Caring for the Elderly
Pastoral Care of the Elderly is an important area in the ministry of Colinton Parish Church. Our primary task is to keep in touch with our most senior members and those who are housebound and those who care for them. This includes contact with people who are living in their own homes or with their families, in sheltered housing, in nursing and Care homes or who are in hospital on a long or short term basis. Because of personal circumstances, many of these people have moved beyond the bounds of the parish, so, in some respects, this is a city wide ministry.
Madeline Sweasey is our Pastoral Care Co-ordinator. She works on a part time basis. Madeline has had many years of professional experience in pastoral and social care. Visits provide the opportunity to discuss any matters of concern. If we as a church family are unable to offer help in an area we will try to suggest other resources.
We offer:
- Pastoral assistance from the Ministry Team during times of crisis.
- Opportunities for worship within local sheltered housing complexes.
- Holy Communion by arrangement at home or in nursing homes.
- Support from 'Just Good Friends'
- Prayerful support from the church family.
