Pastoral Care

A Disciple Community is one in which people know that they are loved, visitors are welcomed and young and old alike are valued and feel safe. Pastoral care is an important task of a Disciple Community. It is the practical demonstration of the love of God through acts of care and compassion.

In Colinton Parish Church we feel that the task of pastoral care should not be seen as the sole responsibility of the Ministry Team. Indeed, through different groups and activities, there are opportunities for people to share friendship and mutual support. This provides an opportunity to share in pastoral ministry through love and concern on various levels.

During our life journey we can face situations or problems which may cause personal anxiety, distress or cause us to question our faith. At such times it may be helpful to talk in confidence or find 'a listening ear'.

At Colinton there is a professional, full time Ministry Team who can be consulted about spiritual and pastoral matters. The Ministry Team seeks to serve the spiritual needs of people through support, spiritual guidance and pastoral counselling during times of bereavement, crisis, illness or special need.

Members of the Ministry Team can be contacted through the Church Office.
