Church Music

All our Music groups singing together Christmas 2009

Music plays a very important part in the life of Colinton Parish Church

All the music groups in Colinton enjoy working together and we have a strong tradition of joint activities as we celebrate events through music in the Church.  Alistair Beattie is our acting Church Organist, looking after our Organ and Choir and Alissa Syme is our Church Musician looking after The Praise Band and Young Voices

We have four main music groups:

Young Voices  our choir for young people aged Primary 4 upwards.

The Praise Band leads workship at our 0930 Service on a Sunday Morning

The Choir sings an introit and an anthem each Sunday at the second service.

Celtic Sound our new group for adults who sing songs with a Celtic feel during Services from time to time.

Our current church organ was part funded by the philantropist  Andrew Carnegie just after the present building was opened in 1908.  It was rebuilt in 1976 and is a two manual instrument with 34 speaking stops and a total of some 1547 pipes all of which greatly enhances the music and worship in the Church.  If you want to know more about our organ, you can follow that here
